Job Description

You will work closely with the rest of the Consumer Finance Division to deliver data-based insights to shape the strategic direction of the business. You will lead your team to produce excellent analyses and reports that will be shared across to the Bank, all the all the way up to the Executive Committee.
So what would you be doing?

  • Strategy setting and delivery - Shape the short and long term strategy and delivery approach for the analytics team, across retail lending products (secured and unsecured loans, credit cards and overdrafts), oversee the delivery of the strategies and ensure any changes achieve optimum performance and strong customer outcomes whilst managing spend and revenue in line with budgets.
  • Team leadership
  • Lead and supervise a team of analysts and analytics managers to achieve our business objectives, always acting in line with our values.
  • Set and own the team’s strategy and objectives, priorities the work in line with our vision.
  • Drive analytics excellence through hiring, talent development, succession planning and culture, ensuring a high level of engagement.
  • Analytics excellence - Lead the journey on embedding robust quantitative methods into business decision-making, by expanding our ‘test and learn’ approaches to new business areas, challenging status quo methodologies, seeking innovation where clear business benefits can be materialized.
  • Pricing optimization - Define, develop and lead the implementation of innovative pricing models, frameworks and strategies to optimize profitability, market share and brand positioning whilst maintaining fair value to our customers; work alongside our Credit Risk team to manage second order risks, and Technology team to successful deploy of new strategies.
  • Data - Play a critical role in shaping the data requirements, from internal and external sources, necessary to delivering insights and monitoring of our products
  • Regulation and compliance – Understand regulations that apply to lending products, including FCA CONC and Consumer Duty, and lead the team to operate and deliver strategies in a compliant manner and in line with our values; Implement and maintain adequate levels of governance to ensure the models, processes, policies and controls are reliable, scalable and robust enough for a regulated environment.
  • Any other duties as required that reasonably fall within the job.

  • Hands-on experience of applying a range of analytical tools to a variety of business problems, building valuation or profitability models, and ability to produce those from a mix of assumptions and data points.
  • Proven ability to use data to identify issues, tell stories, challenge others’ analysis, and create strategies to make a positive business impact.
  • Strong business acumen, enabling strategic planning for the analytics function, whilst retaining an exceptional attention to details.
  • Fluent with SQL, Excel at an advanced level, and ideally SAS or R, at a level to develop other colleagues’ technique and understanding, and to review and assess their work.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, management and communication skills, with a natural desire to nurture and inspire others.
  • Ability to lead, directly and indirectly, a diverse team of individuals and keen to take responsibility to deliver quality change and execution, at pace, working across the Bank.
  • Strong understanding of market drivers (customer, channels, distribution, technology, competitor, regulatory) to drive profitable growth and positive customer outcomes in Consumer Finance.
  • Familiarity with credit risk and responsible lending requirements applicable to consumer lending, including scorecards and affordability assessments.
  • Working knowledge of regulation that applies to lending products, including FCA CONC, CCA and Consumer Duty, and experience partnering with Compliance functions to find appropriate solutions to regulatory ambiguity.
