Job Description

The core purpose of this role is to lead and manage all aspects of financial control while managing delivery of financial information required to enable the delivery of company and consolidated financial reporting. You will lead and develop a team and provide direct line management to Accounts Payable Manager, Assistant Financial Controller, Systems Accountant and Payroll Supervisor. You will play an active role in the development of St Mungo’s financial strategy, including delivery of the systems and process transformation programme with key deliverables including:

• Delivery of robust internal controls that safeguard St Mungo’s assets.
• Developing a high performing team to deliver best practice across purchase to pay, income management, record to report, treasury and payroll processes.
• Development and implementation of a clear long term financial systems strategy to enable efficient and accurate, data and analysis.
• Management and delivery of statutory and legislative reporting requirements including statutory accounts and tax.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious person with a strong desire to drive process efficiency and to deliver high quality and compliant financial records.
You will be a qualified accountant with a successful track record of leading and managing a Financial Control (or equivalent) function, be accounting systems literate and able to manage core general ledger and related systems. You will demonstrate strong direct and indirect people management skills; excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with finance and non-finance staff, explaining complex financial issues to non-financial staff. Housing and/or Charity sector experience will be beneficial but not essential.
