Job Description
  • Carry out the responsibilities of this post in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that all activities undertaken within their functional area strictly comply with all control procedures.
  • Assist senior staff to ensure the integrity of the information in the General Ledger and Accounts Payable is maintained.
  • Maintaining appropriate relationships with other service areas to assist with the provision of the above service.
  • The post holder will necessarily have to deal with a wide variety of circumstances and issues, be familiar with and contribute to broader developments in Council policy and respond to new and changing requirements as the working environment develope.
  • Receive, maintain and process payment requests from Suppliers and Internal customers.
  • Able to use the councils Account Payable system to ensure prompt payment of Invoices matching invoices to purchase orders.
  • Ensure all records are maintained in such a way as to ensure that they are readily available and accessible to all parties.
  • Ensure that all activities undertaken reflect and respect environmental considerations in accordance with Council Policy
  • Promote the service by whatever means are appropriate and available so as to ensure a positive image to customers and the rest of the Authority.
  • Respond to queries raised by external suppliers and individuals about all payments.
  • Guide end users through the Accounts Payable system so that they are able to access data locally.
  • Perform other such duties of a similar nature as from time to time maybe required.
  • To work with colleagues to identify solutions to issues being addressed by the Council.
  • Scanning, photocopying and other general office duties as required.
  • Contribute to team targets and help ensure that they are met.
  • To liaise with service managers and their staff, and assist in the provision of appropriate advice and guidance to ensure that accurate and timely record keeping is maintained.
  • Perform other such duties of a similar nature as from time to time maybe required.
  • Work with colleagues at all levels to identify solutions to business issues being addressed by the Council.
  • Work as a member of the team to achieve team, service and Council objectives
