Job Description
  • Responsible for bookkeeping of all projects and some subsidiary companies up to Trial Balance
  • Sales invoicing (manual invoicing and/or using sage), within strict deadlines.
  • Prepare payment instructions to banks.
  • Prepare/Review payment withdrawal notices .
  • Accounts receivable and credit control.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Input month and quarter end journals with support from management accountants, some are complicated and materially significant for the financial statements.
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Administration and management of SAGE 200.
  • Liaising with other departments (e.g., Technical, Commercial and Admin) and Accountants to ensure accurate accounting treatment and recording.
  • Support audit process.
  • Support with Senior Accounting Officer certificate submission.
  • Various company secretarial works as required by Companies Act.
  • Assist other accountants in various reporting obligations.
  • General:
  • Identifying and implementing improvements, including fuller use of systems, to drive efficiency and control, assist in improving, documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Understand internal control requirements, maintain internal control documents and manage accounting work in accordance with them.
  • Deal with ad hoc work as it arises.

  • Good bookkeeping and general accounting knowledge and proven ability to understand and apply it in practice
  • Understanding the key principles of VAT
  • Ability to recognize any issues and communicate effectively to more senior level staff
  • Pro-active, self-motivated and highly organized
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; Strong team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build cooperative relationships with both internal and external contacts at all levels is critical
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn and develop accounting skills
  • Able to (or desire to learn to) progress to more complicated work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and cope with tight and fixed reporting deadlines
  • Ability to run multitask whilst being able to priorities to meet multiple deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Part qualified accounting professional or practical accounting experience /commitment to formal accounting qualification.
  • Knowledge of SAGE200 accounting system (advantageous to have)
  • Good understanding of general internal controls preferred, not essential
  • This is a multicultural, multi-disciplined team of professionals, thus an ability to articulate views clearly and concisely is highly desirable
