Job Description

This is an opportunity to really make your mark in supporting the growth and development of a large-scale international business, ensuring the right level of planning, governance, agile support and resources are in place to drive profitable growth, client service and engagement of our people. This role is to work primarily with the Global DCOO for CFT (and Department Leader, Regional Leader and Practice Group Leaders as required) to develop and manage the overall success of the Department.
Key responsibilities

  • Assisting in driving forward strategic initiatives
  • Assistance liaising with transformation office and keeping trackers up to date on progress and assist in preparing Board/LT update papers
  • Assistance with tracking progress of PG’s against PG plan – flagging areas of concern
  • Working with F&A/partners/BD on pricing/go/no-go decisions as first level of approval
  • Assisting with lateral hire papers
  • Assist in preparing GE updates
  • Assisting in preparing material/sessions for partner conference Management
  • Assisting in preparing papers for contract renewal
  • Assisting in preparing papers for PPC/PRC
  • Liaising with HR and F&A regarding rates for new joiners
  • Reviewing time reports, missing time, other operational reports and flagging issues and working with PGL’s to highlight problem areas
  • Helping to drive monthly performance across the regions against budget
  • Assisting with Budget process
  • Assisting with rate setting process
  • Approving expense requests
  • Approving other operational requests within certain limitations
  • Assisting in preparation of agendas for regular meetings with Department Leadership and/or PGLs
  • Running/Assisting with sessions as part of new qualifier/new joiner process/new partner educating on financial hygiene, operations etc.
  • Participating in any groups/projects regarding offices/facilities which need department input
  • First point of contact for department specific queries from IT
  • Triaging issue on department level with IT and finding solutions
  • Responding to requests for financial info from PGL’s/sub sector leaders/BD/partners
  • Gathering material for more regular department/growth engine communications/updates
  • Participating in regular Business Development meetings
  • Organization of meetings, preparation of associated papers
  • Participating in global HR meetings and following up agreed global themes across regional leaders
  • Assisting in implementation of specific HR initiatives
  • Working closely with recruitment as per items highlighted in other sections

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrable experience in an operations role in a growing and changing environment.
  • Preference for global law firm practice management background.
  • Proven financial management experience with budgeting and reporting
  • Familiarity and comfort with legal and professional services, including development, trends, analysis, technology and literature
  • Experience working internationally across different time zones and continents
  • Proven success and experience in operating within a multi-cultural environment
  • Possess acute business judgment and strong analytical, strategic and implementation skills; market-savvy orientation with an ability to see and react to overall trends in the marketplace
  • Ability to be proactive and solutions-oriented, innovative, with a strong presence and a palpable customer orientation to deal effectively with Firm personnel, partners and clients
  • Sensitive to organizational culture and how to effect change and influence constituencies in a motivational and positive way while maintaining consistent office practices and procedures
  • Possess a team-first orientation, strong collaboration skills and an inclusive, decision-making style
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the capability of dealing with difficult situations and people and handling multiple priorities
