Job Description

You will lead on financial planning, management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer, Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.
You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organization and will be pro-active in developing new systems and services to meet the needs of the organization as it grows. You will be responsible for overseeing outsourced providers, including IT and Telecoms. You will also manage external advisors and relationships with banks, auditors, legal, tax and other business services providers, ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes. You will also oversee our Safeguarding frameworks for both staff and services and ensure compliance with Charities Commission and legal responsibilities.
You will have experience of financial management, efficient administrative systems and a proven ability to both motivate and be a part of effective teams. You will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be proactive and solution-focused, and knowledgeable about or be able to access information about HR, IT and other business services matters
The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Together with the Senior Leadership Team, develop, deliver and review the strategic business plan and annual action plans, ensuring congruence across all services and that Advance values and strategic outcomes are evident in practice across projects
  • Lead on coordination and delivery of the organizational risk management and Operations work, delivering on priorities and identifying solutions to address concerns as necessary. 
  • Provide clear inspirational financial and business services leadership that embodies the organization’s values and ensures individuals and teams are aligned to the organization’s overall strategy, annual business plans and budgets, and ensuring the development of your direct reports to achieve this.
  • Align financial and business resources to deliver the financial policy framework within agreed limits, including reserves, expenses and funder requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of the Finance and Operations team, including to support Advance’s service delivery
  • Ensure Advance has clear and appropriate business services, policies and frameworks, including managing external relationships, with regards to Properties, IT and telecoms, Legal and tax, Banking, Audit, Insurance and other business support service 
  • Work with Directors and Senior Managers to ensure all Advance premises are fit for purpose, accessible and appropriate for high-quality service delivery, ensure health & safety compliance, lease and other requirements are met.
