Job Description

We are looking for an expert in all things finance who is driven by numbers, with a strong analytical and strategic way of thinking. This role is fundamental in providing accurate financial reporting, enabling the business to make decisions based on robust financial information. We want somebody who has first-hand experience of working in a senior position within a finance team and has brought improvements to business processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will be both a financial strategist and a hands-on leader able to work with all areas of the business to ensure success. This is a hybrid role based in London and you will be happy to be on site at least two days a week in our office in Old Street.

You will be responsible for directing and controlling the company's financial reporting with a real hands on approach whilst also giving strategic guidance to the CEO and board, to ensure the growth of the company. The ideal candidate will be fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) and ideally have previous experience working in the technology sector. The successful candidate will need to bring real energy to the role and help to automate and bring efficiency to our current systems and processes, as well developing and inspiring the existing finance team.

  • Work with the CEO on the strategic vision including accurate forecasting of revenue and costs and cultivating stakeholder relationships
  • Partner with the commercial and client teams to ensure complex business opportunities are accurately priced and profitability ensured with all legal documentation in place
  • Developing finance policies and procedures, to ensure that adequate controls are installed and maintained and ensuring compliance with the law
  • Own and implement the annual budgeting process to ensure accurate revenue related budgets and reporting are in place alongside accurate management information and profitability of the business
  • Overseeing and actioning all purchasing activity for staff and ensuring that a value for money approach is taken for procurement
  • Responsibility for the processing of the monthly payroll
  • Monitor all banking activities of the organization including the production of monthly reports e.g. financial statements and cash flow projections
  • Production, review and monitoring of the Group’s tax position, HMRC submissions, and Year End filings
  • Support and control the ongoing business forecasting process, and be a key focal point for understanding the actual and future financial performance
  • Gain a low level understanding of the business and being prepared to review and challenge performance
  • Build, develop and support the finance team to develop individually and achieve fantastic results for Profusion
  • Any other ad hoc responsibilities that may be required by the role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This role will be well-suited to an experienced finance professional, who will be willing to roll up his/her sleeves, at the same time as providing financial and strategic advisory support.

  • Fully qualified accountant is essential (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Must have experience in leading and developing finance functions
  • Previous experience of overhauling finance and operations systems and processes is essential
  • Previous experience of Xero is an advantage, and a strong knowledge of other finance systems is desirable
  • Exceptional knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods, with a track record of driving results through effective financial reporting and driving efficiency and profitability
  • Experience of working alongside PE/VC in a growth setting is a huge advantage
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
  • Working knowledge of employment law is desirable
  • Experience of working in start-up/scale-up brands in the technology sector would be an advantage.
  • Strong technical accounting skills are a must
  • Able to lead through change, dealing with ambiguous contexts and bringing clarity
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines
  • An analytical thinker, comfortable with numbers and measures of performance
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with great interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills and a confident public speaker.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
