Job Description

This role is responsible for leading and managing the team, and for leading the ongoing transformation of the service. This includes managing the performance of a number of external delivery partners, including IBM and Deloitte, and the upcoming re-tender of the contract.

The role works closely with and provide a high-quality service to other teams within HMT and the wider Government Finance Function, with a focus on putting finance at the heart of decision making.

Key Accountabilities for this role include:

Lead and manage the FACT team, providing clear direction, and helping to build the skills and impact of the branch across company’s spending functions, fiscal units and Whitehall finance departments. Embed a culture of inclusion and equal opportunity for all, where the diversity of individuals’ backgrounds and experiences are valued and respected.

Deliver a high quality and efficient service which is a good investment of taxpayers’ money. Work collaboratively with customers and delivery partners to manage, monitor and deliver agreed outcomes. Ensure risks are monitored and managed to prevent issues with service delivery wherever possible.

Proactively create, maintain and promote a strong network of contacts across the organization and externally. Actively promote the service with pride, both internally and externally. Display passion and enthusiasm for the service, helping to inspire colleagues and partners to fully engage with the aims and long-term vision.

Communicate in a straightforward, honest and truthful way with consideration for the impact of the method used. Communicate with conviction and clarity in the face of tough challenges. Influence external partners, stakeholders and customers successfully securing mutually beneficial outcomes.

Challenge the way things have always been done. Seek, encourage and recognize initiative and imaginative ideas from a wide range of stakeholders. Implement changes that transform the flexibility, responsiveness and quality of the service. Manage change effectively.

Ensure the secure and careful use of all government and public data and information contained.
