Job Description
  • Assess the impact of changes within the company , providing guidance to the business and agreeing implementation plans that will keep the Group compliant with current standards
  • Preparation of technical accounting papers for Board, Audit Committee or auditors as required
  • Technical lead on accounting projects
  • Be a key contact for queries with the external auditors
  • Production of statutory accounts including  accounts and Annual Report
  • Prepare Group Consolidation and for consolidation entities, ensuring all adjustments are reconciled and regularly reviewed in line with the Group's Balance Sheet Reconciliation Policy
  • Building and maintaining an effective control environment around the  consolidation and external reporting process with a view to improving output in terms of quality and time
  • Manage audit and any other statutory to management account adjustments to ensure there is a single version of the truth across internal and external reporting
  • Preparation of year end audit schedules as required
  • Prepare other schedules required for external reporting / covenant compliance - e.g. to banks, lenders, regulatory bodies
  • Tax compliance (Corporation, VAT, CIS and PAYE) working with third party providers and liaison across the company to ensure the Group remains compliant and pays the right amount of tax, along with preparing the annual  submissions
  • Improve Tax deliverables, reporting and submissions
  • Line management and development of the External Reporting Accountant

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified Accountant, ideally ACA qualified and experience with a top audit firm
  • Have 3+ years' experience of leading the group's external year end reporting process within a listed business
  • Experience of the following is essential:
  • accounting for acquisitions, goodwill and acquired intangible assets
  • Strong line manager, with experience of managing individuals in a dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely
  • Project management skills - ability to plan, priorities and manage risk to maximize benefit / deliverables
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge combined with ability to grasp new concepts and apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues
  • Attention to detail and accuracy even under pressure
  • Proven interpersonal, influencing and team working skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Deadline driven, enjoys working in a fast paced environment and combines prioritization with flexibility to deliver on promises
  • Strong control awareness including the key controls required for this role
  • Highly motivated and proactive and enjoys working in a team and taking full advantage and accountability for delivering results
