Job Description
  • Provide financial leadership and direction to the business.
  • Act as the connection between the finance team and the CEO helping to drive strategy and hit targets using their financial insight, while also overseeing the finance team as a whole.
  • Develop and control the company’s annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met and financial and statutory regulations complied with.
  • Ensure that the funding position of the RPS (Railway Pension Scheme) is maintained via the Tri-annual valuation, liaising with the Group over maintaining or renewing Parent Company guarantee.
  • Contribute to the development and achievement of the Company objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy as a member of Executive Committee.
  • Oversee all accounting procedures and systems used by the Company.
  • Meets with the Executive Committee regularly to keep them informed and to offer direction and guidance.
  • Review reports and analyze projections of income against actual figures to suggest methods of improving the planning process.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Committee assess the long-term financial trends and review prospects for future growth of income.
  • Recruit, direct and control all finance staff across the business to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed so that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
  • Ensure the Company meets its financial and legal responsibilities.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Finance Director of our Shareholder to which they report functionally.
  • Ensure all compliance with all Finance rules and procedures of the Group
  • As you will expect the organization may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Extensive Senior Level Accountancy experience
  • Experience in dealing with Stakeholders and Board members
  • Must be a strategic thinker
  • Significant Managerial experience
  • Excellent communicator
  • Project management skills
  • Proven ability of working under pressure
  • Strong IT skills
