Job Description

Reporting into the CFO, this position will involve managing the Legal and Business Services Finance Team, improving financial performance and maintaining robust financial controls. Based at their headquarters, this role follows a hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop the Legal and Business Services Finance Team
  • Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Senior Leadership Team, Partners and Business Services Directors to understand, monitor and consistently improve financial performance across the firm
  • Provide accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting to the management team, Partners and third parties to assist them in monitoring and improving business performance and developing future strategy
  • Manage the Legal and Business Services annual business planning and budgeting process, multiyear planning and forecasting, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic objectives
  • Working with the Chief Financial Officer, Group Executive and HR Director, participate in the annual Group salary and bonus review process for the Legal and Business Services entities
  • Working with the Chief Financial Officer, construct and evaluate business cases for new initiatives to ensure scarce resources are allocated to the best opportunities
  • Support the implementation of change programmes and provide appropriate business consultancy support
  • Manage all cash flow and forecasting activities
  • Manage relationships with external service providers
  • Arrange relevant financing with bankers

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A qualified accountant, ideally with at least 5 years’ experience within a law firm or professional services setting in a senior role
  • A good leader, with strong people management skills and 5 years’ team management experience
  • Confident working directly with Partners and senior management, with experience of management of finance planning processes including annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting and multi-year planning
  • An effective communicator with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, demonstrating good commercial acumen and exceptional analysis and financial modelling skills
  • Strong IT skills are required in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
