Job Description

In this role you will develop and lead our business risk management programme and monitor our high-risk areas across our business, primarily within the operation areas looking at the work our advisers do with our customers and report back to the Head of Compliance. Providing insight and feedback, which will drive forward improvements and recommendations which will result in adding value to brand and profitability from being a trusted service provider.

As our Risk manager, you will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing delivery of the various risk governance activities, influencing the business leaders to change processes where appropriate to minimize risk as and enable the best possible advice and TCF for our customers whilst minimizing the financial and reputational risks to company at all times.

You will work alongside key stakeholders to ensure that all company Leaders and teams across the business understand their responsibilities in mitigating risk and delivering high quality advice. Your sphere of influence spans across regulatory requirements as well as professional standards, risk minimization, Data Protection and industry best practice.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Develop and deliver our risk management framework across the business, working with key stakeholders
  • Ensure the wider business understands how to use the framework and how to manage their own operational risks, assisting with queries and providing guidance
  • Provide risk management training and education to enhance the awareness and understanding of risk within the business, ensuring there is the right level of understanding of risk management theory and application
  • Risk assurance including scenario planning, stress testing, trend analysis and control effectiveness reviews;
  • Support the facilitation of the identification, capture, reporting and management of emerging risks across the group.
  • Supply Independent review & challenge of risk registers to ensure all material risks have been identified and managed according to risk appetite and tolerance.
  • Complete high-risk business activities monitoring, to include:
    • High sum assured & High commission cases
    • Cancellations
    • High volume self-generation families
    • Any other business activities deemed to be high risk or problematic following liaison with the Care, Best Practice and Compliance leaders to understand the common issues arising
  • Make recommendations to the business for process/policy review and improvements based on risk reviews and learnings from your inspection of our activities
  • Influence change across the business where necessary to minimize risk
  • Monitor and review our PII notifications to ensure preventative measures taken and learnings made
  • Act as a point of expert guidance to the wider business on risk related matters
  • Complete third party due diligence requests and risk assessments
  • 'On point' with industry changes to risk approach and management and best practice
  • Ensure business is adhering to key risk process policies
  • Assist the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Compliance team with other general tasks and duties as required, such as assisting with governance & monitoring activities, task pot management and assisting with other projects.
