Financial Accountant
Full-time, Temporary
Job Description
  • Day-to-Day book-keeping (QuickBooks) including sales invoice and reconcile all money received.
  • Prepare a monthly payment run, ensuring all supplier statement are reconciled and all suppliers are paid on time.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliation including reviewing bank statements.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and Gift Aid claims to the HMRC
  • Ensure all pension, HMRC and other regulatory payments and submissions are made on time
  • Review, reconcile and post all credit card transactions
  • Record staff sick and annual leave
  • Work with the Chief Executive to prepare an annual budget for approval by the Trustees
  • Assist with year-end accounts / routines, including external audit function
  • Maintain the Assets Register.
  • Administration
  • Maintain and develop information management and support systems, including, the database (Charity Log), SharePoint, and MS 360
  • Support the Centre Coordinator to manage and set up meetings, calling for and distributing papers, minting meetings, and following up actions
  • Organize any catering, travel, room bookings and other tasks as required
  • Ensure relevant forms are completed to action changes, e.g. bank mandates, Charity Commission etc.
  • Possess relevant skills, experience and knowledge in the financial and administration work
  • Demonstrate good financial and analytical understanding to capture key issues and resolve them professionally
  • Demonstrate self-reliance and resolutions to provide good administration support
  • Have the ability to write to a good standard of English and be able to write and analyses numerical reports

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience of bookkeeping (QuickBooks Online), working with financial systems and processes, budget management and financial planning
  • Good IT skills, with proficiency in MS Office365
  • Previous sole-charge finance role work with strong attention to detail
  • Systematic, ability to priorities and highly organized workstyle
  • Excellent administrative planning and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to tailor communication to influence people at all levels
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Finance or accounting qualifications
  • Knowledge of charity financial management and accounting requirements
  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector
  • Experience of maintaining website and producing e-newsletters
