Job Description
- Provision of full management accounting support for revenue and capital on budget setting, budget monitoring and closure of accounts for designated services.
- Provision of high quality and timely financial advice, challenge and information to officers and councilors to enable them to produce robust revenue and capital budgets and regular, accurate, realistic revenue and capital budget monitoring forecasts during the year.
- Work collaboratively with the other Finance Business Partner to ensure a consistency in approach and to achieve best practice.
- Assist in the production of the regular budget monitoring reports.
- Ensure that robust challenge is provided through collaborative working with colleagues to ensure forecasts are accurate and transparent.
- Ensure cash limit changes are made in a timely, compliant manner and are recorded accurately.
- Ensure the year-end processes for services within your control are delivered, ensuring accounting requirements and deadlines are met.
- Active participation in service development and ensuring continuous improvement of any activities that the post holder is responsible for.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Part Qualified or Qualified Accountant
- Significant experience of working in a finance environment, preferably in the public sector.
- Experience of providing business partnering (management accounting) services, including costings for proposals for changes and / or projects and also providing financial advice and information.
- Experience of supporting the following key financial processes: budget setting, budget monitoring, year-end closure of the ledger.
- Experience of using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level and Microsoft Word at a basic level.
