Complete mapping and assessment of current processes, identifying the opportunities to improve reporting controls and the efficiency with which financial data is assembled into high integrity accounts.
Development of documentation for accounting procedures and policies, including a Excel spreadsheet control environment and capital expenditure controls.
Leading the response to fix identified weaknesses, single points of failure and similar, either through people, process or IT controls.
Enhancement of the end-to-end process associated with student and conference income, including student-related documentation.
Identification of fraud risk areas and assurance through appropriate response
Maintenance and evolution of existing expenditure control processes, e.g., management information and budget reporting, the Delegation of Authority matrix, the on-boarding of new suppliers, assuring controls for recharge calculations and similar.
Monthly reconciliation statements for the College's bank accounts and other control accounts.
Assured and timely distributions arising from financing.
Preparation of year-end schedules and analyses to support the statutory audit and the associated processes, and
Assured submission of VAT and PAYE returns.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Professional Accounting qualification (Ideally ACA/ACCA).
Evident experience of developing and implementing financial controls
Solid experience of using accounting packages
Demonstrable advanced Excel skills
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Professionalism, tact and discretion in handling confidential information
A willingness to question the status quo in an engaging manner with evident interpersonal skill
Excellent written and spoken English with an appreciation of different audiences
