Job Description

We are looking for a Purchasing Administrator to come onboard and work alongside the Senior Purchasing Engineer on a day-to-day basis. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a range of different aspects of a purchasing role and be exposed to a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment. The day-to-day activities will be varied and dependant on a range of different inputs but some of the tasks you’ll be completing regularly will be:

  • Supplier Administration – issuing paperwork to potential suppliers, raising suppliers within our system, ensuring that suppliers are approved by the relevant departments and keeping the details up-to-date.
  • Accepting deliveries from our couriers and using the ERP software to receive items before barcoding and issuing the item to the relevant location.
  • Taking responsibility for the paperwork required that accompanies the deliveries and filing it in the correct place.
  • Arrange shipments to suppliers for stock that has been rejected or is in need of re-work.
  • Complete life-cycle and stock counting exercises as required.
  • Raise purchase requisitions and convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders to send out to suppliers.
  • Follow up outstanding purchase orders or purchase orders with incomplete information.
  • Populate stock parts on the ERP system as instructed.
  • Review and resolve quarantine/invoice issues.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role is somebody with a passion for learning and personal development. No prior experience is required to take on this role, but you must be ready for a challenge and comfortable learning on-the-job in a fast-moving environment.

Education/Employment Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s to include English and Maths (a design/technology qualification would be advantageous)
  • Actively engaging/interested in the study of logistics, warehousing or a Commercial Environment.
  • Experience in an office-based role using basic IT systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of Microsoft OS and Office (2010 or later). Strong time management and organizational skills. Proactive approach to learning and development. Methodical approach. Basic stores or purchasing knowledge. Hobby in mechanical engineering or electronics. Basic scientific or medical device knowledge. Basic knowledge of an ERP system.
