Job Description

The New Role:

  • Ensure that all customer invoicing and account records are accurate, complete and reviewed regularly.
  • Ensure that invoices are raised in a timely manner and followed up within deadlines.
  • Ensure that any credit notes raised are done so, following the authorisation process.
  • Ensure that customer receipts, including BACs, card, cheque and direct debt payments, are posted correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Full accountability to ensure full compliance to the running and setting up of the company's debit debt scheme.
  • build effective working relationships, with all internal teams - Customer Service and Operations - to establish robust methods to ensure all opportunities are taken to reduce the risk of growing customer debt.
  • Set up procedures to chase and follow up outstanding debt.
  • Issue customer debt statements and reminders.
  • Proactively liaise with customer service with information on companies with outstanding debt - then report on the results and the achievements to recover overdue payments.
  • Control placing overdue accounts on stop and the subsequent activities to collect outstanding payments.
  • Perform regular reviews of customer accounts - particularly those on hold to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for resolving all relevant customer account queries in a timely manner.
  • Work with external debt chase specialists when required.
  • Establish and provide regular and relevant reporting on the accounts to help ensure effective control of the company's customer debt.
  • Support general accounting activities as required by the Finance Manager and team.

  • Excellent knowledge of basic accounting, including double entry bookkeeping and maintaining all ledgers.
  • Cashbook maintain, accounts receivable.
  • Proven competence in use of accounting systems, spreadsheets and word.
  • Self- motivated, calm professional, who is able to work efficiently in a busy office environment.
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Someone who enjoys building relationships with internal and external parties and whom is skilled in overcoming objections with integrity, resilience and persuasiveness.
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels both verbally and in writing.
