Job Description

You will manage a team of 12 staff working on traffic engineering and road safety schemes, active travel, traffic regulation (signs and lines), accident investigations, road safety education, training and publicity, and development control consultations.

You will ensure that we meet all statutory requirements in these areas and contribute to the development of strategies, policies and schemes to promote active travel and sustainable transport, reduce accidents and aid the safe movement of all highway users.

The role requires a high standard of written and verbal communication, strong financial management skills, and a creative approach to problem solving. Traffic and road safety is something everyone has an opinion on and can often be contentious - it will be up to you to make evidence based decisions and to communicate them effectively.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You should have a degree or diploma in civil engineering or other relevant discipline, and extensive experience in a traffic/transport related field. You should also have a broad knowledge of current legislation and practice and experience of project management of traffic initiatives and schemes.
