Job Description

This is a varied and interesting role which will allow you to have a wide insight into the business and the management of key judgments and external messaging. As a Manager in the team, you will be a 'trusted advisor’ to the business providing technical expertise and advice to internal customers on accounting best practice and company law changes. You will advise Financial Control & Reporting on consolidating accounting and on external reporting matters, and will support in implementing new financial reporting requirements. You'll also evaluate new accounting and company law requirements in the UK and internationally, and brief the Finance community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technically reviewing external statutory reporting
  • Contributing to setting accounting and maintaining the accounting manual
  • Advising on the financial reporting and fair value aspects of complex transactions
  • Provides support and guidance to Finance, Treasury and Risk on financial reporting issues and queries
  • Supporting the implementation of new financial reporting requirements
  • Building and developing relationships within Policy & Control, Financial Control & Reporting, FP&A, Regulatory Control, Taxation and, the business finance functions
  • Identifying and reviewing best practice financial reporting in the financial services industry for possible implementation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You will be a qualified Accountant, with a strong technical accounting background gained either in external audit (at Audit Manager/Senior Manager level) or in an accounting advisory capacity in a large corporate. You'll have a good understanding of best practice in developing and applying accounting policy and practice, with knowledge and previous experience of group consolidation advantageous. You will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, build and enhance key relationships, credibly influencing and challenging where needed. Strong communication skills are therefore imperative, as is the ability to articulate issues clearly and succinctly.
