Job Description

Organizational relationships:

Liaises with:

Internally: all other members of the practice team

Externally: the patients, CCG and NHSE, community services, hospital services and members of other statutory bodies

Main Responsibilities:

Providing a safe, caring and friendly service to patients, the public and staff. Touch typing of correspondences, patient related documentation and other communications appropriate to Dr Davis’s Medical Practice (DDMP).

Ensure the effective management of reception ensuring all correspondence outputs produced meet the quality and professional standards.

Accurate and timely recording of patient information onto DDMP systems as directed by members of the team.

General office duties: filing, photocopying, scanning, emailing documentation and providing telephone cover to the department as required, including answering of calls and booking patient appointments.

Where appropriate, ad hoc retrieval of information to support patient pathway management: patient notes, scanned documentation, x-ray images etc..

Responsibility for maintaining safe and secure systems in relation to documentation that is retrieved or used as part of the role, in accordance with governance procedures.

Sort, priorities, process and distribute incoming mail, using judgment and experience to decide which documents to forward to other areas for action/information.

Receive and accept deliveries to the practice and deal with these appropriately which may include placing pharmaceutical supplies in the fridge immediately upon receipt of the delivery.

Assist members of the team with their workload, as directed.

To undertake annual appraisal with line manager

Must undertake all mandatory training and adhere to all policies and procedures as required by DDMP.

Familiarize yourself with all DDMP policies and Staff Handbook.

Any other duties appropriate as may be required.

Safeguarding

Understand and apply the Practice’s safeguarding policy that supports the identification of vulnerable and abused children and adults, being aware of statutory child/vulnerable adult health procedures and local guidance

Work within policies relating to domestic violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse and addictive behavior, and refer as appropriate

Ensure up to date knowledge of safeguarding and the safeguarding leads within the practice

Part-time hours: 25 per week
