This is a brand new role and such may develop to meets the needs of the business and the strengths of the employee. Due to expansion it is likely the role will have a bias towards personnel/human resources, with assistance from the office manager. We also have a dedicated outsourced HR advisory company.
Recruitment of staff including official veterinary surgeons and certification support officers
Sourcing locum staff
Ensuring a suitable staff rota across a number of sites across the UK, some of which operate 24/7
Telephone answering
Booking of staff for additional site visits in response to email/phone requests
Involvement in interviews
Develop and run a new starter program that includes but not limited to – ensure they are given the correct documentation, uniform, training.
Undertake training for new employees – such as how to use computer software, invoicing, filling out sickness forms etc.
Order and dispatch uniform for new starters, order and dispatch replacement uniform as required.
Maintaining personnel records who require professional qualifications to undertake their role keep them up to date and current.
Ensure all Official Veterinarians (OVs) have up to date and current VDS insurance
Monitor Continuing Professional Development (CPD) levels for all OVs and CSOs
Monitor and record sickness/absence
Booking travel/accommodation for staff when required.
Enroll, monitor and maintain eligible employees onto the workplace pension scheme
Assist planning, monitoring and appraisal of employee performance
Maintain up to date job descriptions for all positions.
Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Other duties as requested by management from time to time
HOURS AND REMUNERATION
Office based position (a limited amount of work may be able to be carried out from home (subject to management approval))
37.5 hour working week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility on hours and days
Occasional early or late finishes and weekend working may be required
28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
Enrolment onto the workplace pension scheme
CPD/training allowance is available for further qualifications

Salary guide - £20,000 and £25,000 dependent on experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Educated to at least A level standard (3 A levels grade C or higher). Experience in HR including HR software (eg BreatheHR). Experience in recruitment and induction of staff. Motivated, flexible and proactive. Able to work under own initiative. Good telephone manner. Basic proficiency in Microsoft office programmes. Experience or knowledge of one or more of: food industry, export industry, logistics/haulage industry, veterinary industry.
