Job Description

PERMANENT PART-TIME PAYROLL - £28 - £32,000 pro-rota – MILTON KEYNES

Our client is looking for a part-time experienced Payroll person, one who can challenge any prospective discrepancies and converse with managers on queries.  

Daily duties are likely to involve the following:-

  • Preparation, processing and filing of monthly payroll from beginning to end including raising payments.
  • Responsible for the day to day administration;
  • Administer and process end of year submissions, P60 & P11D
  • Reconciliation and completion of monthly HMRC returns in relation to payroll, when necessary;
  • Work in conjunction with HR on collation, checking and posting of overtime and payments covering reconciliation back to payroll reports ensuring consistency across the Group
  • Review time and attendance to ensure all relevant sites have signed off. Liaise with relevant department to highlight any outstanding exceptions for approval of site.  
  • Proactively develop and keep up to date with new payroll legislation and compliance
  • Proactively carry out payroll reconciliations and analysis with no supervision
  • Prepare and submit post payroll journals for Finance Department
  • Proactively liaise with HMRC and assist with more technical enquiries as and when they may arise
  • In conjunction with HR assist with new joiners and leavers in the payroll process
  • Manage third party providers where necessary ensuring deduction report is correct
  • Answering payroll queries on the telephone and using the in-house system to monitor queries

What we need from you:-

  • Previous experience in a similar role as noted above
  • A bit of flexibility around deadlines of payroll
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to converse at all levels
  • Experience of dealing with HMRC

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You must have an in-depth understanding of current Payroll legislation including Statutory Allowances and Pensions Auto Enrolment, and have a high level of attention to detail. Some experience in Tax would also be desirable, as some of your time will be spent assisting the Tax team. Strong written and spoken communication skills are a must as you will be in regular contact with both clients, colleagues and third parties regarding Payroll issues. Good IT skills to include Word and Excel Strong accuracy and attention to detail
