Job Description

Main responsibilities include:

• Monitoring of system performance and solving and/or escalating any issues that can cause security issues
• Resolve database access issues and make sure response time SLR's are in line with the service
• Provide consultancy to internal staff on database design, securiy and performance
• Assist in developing long term strategic goals for database performance in line with the client's requirements
• Install, upgrade and maintain database software which will include creating user accounts, cloning database systems, ensuring nightly backups are performed, applying software /security patches and ensuring that disaster recovery plans include instructions on how to recover database systems
• Implement and maintain procedures for disaster recovery, archiving and backup
• Provide OOH support, as agreed

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A strong level of computer science education and/or significant Oracle DB experience is key. OCA certification is a bonus, as is strong knowledge of database performance tuning and troubleshooting, RMAN backup, and Oracle DataGuard.
