Job Description

We are looking for Senior Referral Management Clerks to lead a team of clerks acting as the first point of contact within our single point of access hub.

The Senior Referral Management Clerk will act as the lead for a team acting as point of contact within our single point of access hub. They will provide administrative triage and processing of referrals as well as manage patient enquiries/screening and be responsible for providing choice on onward care.

  • Lead a small referral management team providing your experience and guidance.
  • Track, manage and report on team and hub performance.
  • Receive referrals, process them, request additional info where appropriate, coordinate with clinical triages, process outcome of clinical triage.
  • Contact with patients for the provision of choice.
  • Monitor and maintain electronic Directory of Service - coordinating with clinical director and IT partners.
  • Use of eRS referral system to receive referrals and process onward referrals to hospital eye service.
  • Use of OptoManager/Opera IT systems to support clinical triage and onward referrals into clinical services by optical practices.
  • Ensuring timeliness of single point of access hub process.
  • Answer and Manage patient queries inc calls for urgent eye care.
  • Tracking and reporting of patients.
  • Support the Service coordinator team to provide resilience.
  • Other duties required by management.

Candidates will demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Experience of working in a referral booking management center or equivalent.
  • Ability to implement and manage new initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cope effectively under pressure whilst delivering results.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively as a team member assisting colleagues to deliver objectives.
  • Ability to express information in a clear, concise and understandable.
  • Ability to manage priorities.
  • Caring and empathetic attitude to patients.
  • Act in ways that support equality and promote diversity.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends

Education:

  • GCSE or equivalent (Required)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates will have appropriate GCSE/A Levels or equivalent as an essential requirement. Whilst other healthcare qualifications are considered a desirable.
