Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership to the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, and strategic position

Lead and develop the financial reporting and accounting teams and assist the Finance Director to provide financial leadership

To manage all day-to-day work carried out by personnel dealing with financial matters with respect to debtors, creditors, reconciliations and problem solving issues identified (including nominal, sales, purchases, cash book, pay roll and stock control)

To maintain records to meet all legal, corporate tax, VAT, Intrastat and HM Revenue and Customs requirements

To support the Finance Director in preparing financial reports as required to the monthly Directors meetings

Leading on statutory account preparation (Group & Subsidiaries) and presentation of these accounts in group Board (including shareholders).  To include managing the preparation in a timely manner and liaising with external auditors when required

Lead on the day-to-day audit relationship and the annual group audit, and oversee those of group entities

Lead on tax analysis, reporting and compliance to optimise the company’s financial performance globally

To support the Finance Director planning and managing group and UK cash flow, taking the lead for the company cash management policies, banking requirements and currency treasury management for the group

Driving Process improvement on financial controls, systems and processes to ensure the Group retains a strong financial control environment.  Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth

Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate

Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including statutory requirements, 3rd party advisors and accountancy and professional bodies 

To manage all subordinate staff and in conjunction with the HR Department, to be responsible for the recruitment, training and performance of all finance staff

Group recharges and monitoring reconciliations between group companies

To manage the maintaining of the company payrolls and be responsible for Revenue returns, including year-end paperwork, and settlement of taxes

To oversee the administration of the company pension scheme for all personnel involved

To manage all insurance reviews

To manage and control computer back-ups

To deputise for the Finance Director as and when required by the Directors or the Business

All duties to be conducted according to Company Quality Control and Health and Safety procedures

This role would suit a technically strong qualified accountant with previous experience as a Group Financial Controller with experience of international accounting but demonstratable experience of being hands on. The ideal candidate will bring financial discipline and control to a growing international business. This individual will be a key member of a high quality Senior Management team.
