Job Description

Responsibilities of the Tax Senior role:

Client Relationships:

  • Deliver a high technical standard adhering to the company’s client care code. Ensuring no mistakes or client complaints regarding quality of work - Tax Returns, Tax Liabilities, Forms P11D and ad hoc queries
  • Achieve a job turnaround time in line with the company’s targets
  • Proactively stay in contact with clients in line with the client grade, minimising client churn by identifying opportunities to deliver ‘wow’ moments for clients whilst managing their expectations
  •  Identify opportunities to help clients improve the quality, efficiency and relevance of their payroll
  • Update timesheets daily in order to identify the profitability of each clients own portfolio with a view to understand any root causes for low or high profitability

People Development:

  • Keep up-to-date with:
    • technical updates, especially changes in tax regulations
    • the current (and proposed future state) of the profession and in particular MTD and its impact
  • Attend technical and management/soft skills training courses as identified
  • To read and apply to assignments, as applicable, all technical literature/updates issued by the company
  • Take ownership for own development and personal workload by:
    • Working with your line manager to agree your own productivity targets, specific role requirements and KPI’s
    • Plan ahead for annual performance review and the two 1:2:1s with line manager in the year
    • Provide regular performance feedback to the people you work with.
    • Regularly ask for feedback on your performance from your line manager and people who you work with
  • Give as much emphasis to company’s overall vision and goals as day-to-day objectives
  • Attend and contribute in the company’s and department meetings

Business Performance:

  • To assist in the development and implementation of working practices to maximise efficiency within the Dept.
  • To contribute to the development of the team/dept plans to achieve the company/team/dept KPIs
  • Liaise with the support services team to ensure clients billed promptly and correctly
  • To achieve business targets on portfolio: billing targets, WIP days and recoveries
  • To prepare fee notes for Manager and/or Director approval

Business Development:

  • Be knowledgeable about the different services our client offers and when clients may need these services.
  • Use on-line social networking sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn to build up a professional profile personally and on behalf of the firm.
  • To participate in marketing initiatives to raise the profile of the Firms external brand including attending networking events when requested

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
ATT qualified or qualified by experience Experience within professional tax practice A good working knowledge of Microsoft office and accounting software  Effective communication with staff, management and client
