Job Description

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Line managing a small team of three including 1 x Income Accountant and 2 x Assistant Accountants including training where necessary to ensure that staff can meet the objectives of the team
  • Providing a comprehensive and professional financial service to the Group, including its subsidiaries and joint ventures
  • Overseeing and having responsibilities for the provision and maintenance of statutory & management accounts, budgets and budgetary control, cash flow management, payroll and service charge recovery
  • Holding overall responsibility in providing to the group’s management team monthly financial reports, in the form of income and expenditure accounts, capital expenditure accounts and balance sheet analysis
  • Managing the service charge function for the parent company (via delegation to the Income Accountant and Service Charge Administrator), including the provision of estimated and actual charges to each customer throughout the year, with reconciliation between estimated and actual charges, ensuring maximum recovery of costs incurred
  • Assisting in the creation and submission of quarterly VAT returns as appropriate (using partial exemption method

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday 9am-5pm (with some flexibility offered)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
CCAB/ACCA/CIMA Qualified or Qualified by relevant experience from working in the sector. Management of a finance team Experience and understanding of a Registered Providers financial and related legislation, including the Accounting Code of practice, accounting standards (Financial Reporting Standard 102) and relevant professional and housing guidance. Skills, knowledge and expertise required: Experience of Open Accounts financial system, Orchard housing system, iTrent, payroll system
