Job Description

How will you contribute?

  • Reporting to the Contract Accountant.
  • Responsible for one direct report
  • Direct responsibility for one major contract but with involvement across all team activities
  • To manage all financial control procedures and ensuring contract expenditure is managed to budgetary constraints.
  • Managing and producing weekly financial and statistical information for the client as well as period reporting for both Wincanton and the Client
  • Preparation of customer budgets and forecasts as well as participating in budgetary and forecast planning meetings with the Client
  • Assist with and manage the production of Wincanton budgets/forecasts
  • Analysis of operational as well as financial data in order to explain trends and justify expenditure levels
  • Responsibility for Balance Sheet Controls and Reconciliation for the Finance Team portfolio
  • Producing ad-hoc reports, costing and expenditure trend analysis as required.
  • Managing, supporting and developing the finance team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous Accounting experience. Possessing or working towards a recognized Accounting qualification Sound Ledger knowledge. PC skills with knowledge of accounting standards. Knowledge and understanding of Transport KPI’s with understanding of financial management/performance of the operation. Experience of supervising/managing direct reports, leading by example, is approachable, open, fair and consistent with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work to deadlines, paying attention to details whilst prioritizing workload. Must have a flexible approach. You must be able to work shifts as necessary to ensure the effective running of the contract.
