Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced bookkeeper to join Bennett Verby. We will provide you with in-house training to support you in your new role. You will join a professional and highly respected team where hard work and commitment are rewarded.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Preparation of VAT returns.
  • Bank Reconciliations.
  • Maintaining Sales/Purchase ledger.
  • Taking accounts up to trial balance.
  • Communicating effectively with HMRC.
  • Responding professionally and promptly to client queries.
  • Willingness to travel to clients’ premises.
  • Willingness to undertake bookkeeping tasks at clients’ premises.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally AAT qualified.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bookkeeping role.

In addition:

  • Hold a clean UK driving license and access to a car.
  • Be able to work well within a team.
  • Committed to your own professional development and a willingness to adapt as the department grows.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and with clients.
  • Work to deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

Working week:

Monday-Thursday 8.30am — 5.15pm
Friday 8.30am — 4.30pm
(38 hours, full time)


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A good working knowledge of Sage 50. A good knowledge of VAT and the ability to apply VAT rules and regulations. Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Knowledge of Xero would be advantageous.
