Our client is looking for an experienced and highly driven Finance Director to join their online retail business based in Chester. This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Director who is looking to join a rapidly growing and successful ecommerce business whereby you will be instrumental in working alongside the MD to drive the business forward. This is a key financial leadership role, with responsibility for full financial management, and the remit will have strategic, operational and transformation elements within it, and is the platform for future progression within the business. You will need to have a hands on approach where needed but also be strategically minded to look at the business from a holistic approach in order to continue to grow the business, no two days will ever be the same. As Finance Director you will have proven experience within a similar role for a fast paced and evolving business, ecommerce or international commerce would be beneficial. However, the tenacity, dynamic and hunger to drive the business forward is essential. Our client has built solid foundations, enjoyed year on year growth and are now set for an exciting phase of growth. In order to expedite current plans, they are seeking a high energy Finance Director who can help drive further expansion and execute their clear long-term strategy.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, driven & engaged individual with a dynamic management approach to join their small, vibrant, team based in Chester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast moving and rapidly growing business.

Doing well in the current economic situation with new business ventures in the launch- they specialise both in store & online retail. The selected individual will take ownership of the delivery of the business profit performance whilst ensuring high quality financial management, control and reporting disciplines are adhered to. The nature of the work sees occasional 'all hands to the pump' periods and hard grafting as the business requires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with the Managing Director on strategic growth & making analytical decisions
  • Financial basics including - invoicing, purchasing, processing payments, VAT, supplier reconciliation etc
  • Overseeing trading managers and admin team. Providing guiding information based on sales / margins / costing templates to assist
  • Stock control systems
  • To ensure timely and accurate provision of monthly management accounts and supporting information to the MD
  • Managing the budgeting & forecasting process
  • Definition and delivery of long-term financial objectives
  • Fulfilling specialist orders, resolving queries and maintaining good customer relations
  • Liaison with supplier inc. stock management, control and advance purchasing
  • Day-to-day office management dealing with staff recruitment, holidays, general team admin
  • Overseeing of dispatch department & awareness / management of courier agreements & activities
  • All other duties as required or instructed by MD

Essential Skills:

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience of an office co-ordinator/managerial role.
  • Familiarity with ecommerce
  • Familiarity with international commerce
  • Experience of international trading & VAT

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified accountant, preferably CIMA / ACCA but by experience considered Competency and experience in company accounting using Xero software Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word software Demonstrable ability to manage a small / medium size team Accuracy and close attention to detail with proven organisational skills Pro-active and flexible - ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
