This role provides a fantastic opportunity to play a leading and pivotal role in a commercial environment, with private sector stakeholders and US/UK clients. This new “start-up” company will enable the new Deputy Facilities Manager to shape his/her own role and to influence the organisation’s wider strategy

Principal Purpose of the SSSL Deputy Facility Manager 

•             The DFM shall assist the FM with all aspects of the reparations, modifications and day-to-day operations of Building 14 within the MOD SEALAND site.

•             Day to day liaison with the MOD Sealand Security control.

•             The DFM shall stand in for the FM as required

Principal Tasks

On behalf of SSSL, and in support of the FM, the duties of the DFM will include:

  

•             To help the FM manage the delivery of building reparations and modifications required for SSSL as part of the Company’s stand-up, depot activation and transition to operations. This will require:

o             Understanding of SSSL facilities requirements (PPM / Reactive and minor works).

o             Understanding of essential repairs and delivery times.

o             To be single point of contact with site level contact for the escalation of service failure.

o             Understanding of legal or regulatory requirements (i.e. building regulations / Fire regulations).

o             Practical knowledge of best practice when undertaking building reparations and modifications.   

o             The coordination of all design activity and the development of solutions to meet the needs of SSSL.

o             Facilitating site surveys.

o             Oversight and acceptance of any work undertaken by contractors, on behalf of SSSL.

o             Managing HSE requirements within the context of reparations and upgrades.

•             To help the FM support all DMAP activity (Phases 2, 3 & 4) that may affect the development of the depot and office facilities used by SSSL.

•             To help the FM support the SSSL Programme Management Review in order to report status and risks against the delivery plan.

•             To put in place and manage any upkeep of Building 14 MOD Sealand.

•             Able to work under own initiative and take ownership of the facility when required.

SSSL Deputy Facility Manager Statement of Work

To assist the SSSL FM manage the day to day requests on building issues including, but not limited to, building reparation and on- going maintenance.

The SSSL DFM shall demonstrate competency in the knowledge of safety, health and environmental regulation compliance and the association of those requirements in managing the Building 14 works and facility.

Operating on behalf of, and under supervision from, the SSSL FM, the DFM shall ensure that all worker certifications and license requirements are identified and obtained before performing the regulated work and documented. The SSSL DFM shall demonstrate full competence in the execution of services required for Building 14 reparations and depot activation.

On behalf of SSSL and under supervision from the FM, the SSSL DFM shall manage the total work effort associated with the operations and all other services required to assure timely completion of the requirements of Building 14 depot activation. The requirements are a full range of management and administrative duties typically required by commercial businesses. These include but are not limited to: planning, scheduling, cost accounting, safety, reporting, records, and quality control.

The SSSL DFM shall help to review the reparations work schedule from SSSL principle building contractors. The schedule shall serve as the baseline schedule. Any changes to this schedule shall be discussed with the FM and approved by SSSL Managing Director (MD).

The SSSL DFM shall work with the FM to effectively manage all works within the approved and dedicated financial budgets as directed.

The SSSL DFM shall monitor work according to the existing reparations and upgrade schedule. All new work schedules resulting from new equipment installation/Technology Groups (TG’s) shall be progressed with the agreement of the SSSL MD.

The SSSL DFM shall work with the FM to report any accidents or hazardous conditions to SSSL MD within one hour and shall submit all reports, as required by Health & Safety Executive and a Monthly Accident Report (MAR). The SSSL DFM shall liaise with the FM to report any serious items in need of prompt attention within one hour to SSSL management team.

Given the nature of the role, the DFM may be required to occasionally work out of hours to attend to any on-site call outs (such as facility alarms etc).

• Previous FM experience • Ability to analyse and resolve problems, develop opportunities and implement innovate solutions/approaches. • Excellent communication and influencing skills. • Demonstration of high performing teamwork, implementing initiatives and working on own judgement and decisions. • Be able to gain SC clearance (No criminal record and been a resident in the UK for the last 5 years). • Be prepared to carry out minor fabric maintenance alongside the FM. • Exponential learning ability.
