The postholder will provide general support to the CCG Finance team, contributing to the provision of a comprehensive, customer focussed financial management function This will involve providing timely and accurate financial information to budget holders as well as supporting corporate financial reporting systems.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Ensures that systems and processes are in place to maintain sound financial management and accurate performance reporting.
2. Assists in the timely production of accurate financial monitoring information for both the Commissioning portfolio and CCG corporate budgets
3. Undertakes routine financial duties such as the inputting of journals and virements and balance sheet reconciliations
4. Calculates monthly accruals figures to ensure that the reported position is an accurate representation of the CCG’s financial commitments.
5. Liaises with Budget Holders to ensure that invoices are processed promptly and accurate coded
6. Liaises with Budget Holders to ensure that monthly financial monitoring statements are explained and understood.
7. Investigates and resolves financial queries and discrepancies, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as necessary, referring more complex queries to the more senior colleagues as appropriate
8. Undertakes variance analysis and investigations as required by budget holders and senior finance staff
9. Assists in the preparation of expenditure forecasts to inform the CCG’s financial planning processes
10. Contributes to the annual budget setting process, undertaking non-complex costings as required
11. Monitors Individual Patient agreements, ensuring that requests that have not yet been invoiced are accrued for on a monthly basis
12. Assists in the Debtor Agreement process liaising with internal and external Commissioning and Finance staff to monitor and resolve disputed invoices
13. Adheres to the PCT’s financial policies and is guided by standard operating procedures, good practice and established precedents
14. Assists the Senior Finance Manager in the preparation of statutory financial proformas
15. Provides advice or demonstrates own activities or workplace routines to new or less experienced members of staff
16. Assists in the maintenance of a culture of financial stewardship within the CCG, promoting awareness of relevant financial procedures and constraints
17. Assists senior members of the Finance Team by performing ad-hoc duties as required
