Job Description

The Property Accountant role will report into the UK&I Finance Manager and will primarily be responsible for the IFRS 16 lease accounting for ODEON UK&I. The successful candidate will also support the monthly and quarterly financial accounting and management reporting for UK&I.

The individual will be required to maintain close relationships with the wider UK finance team, Group finance as well as the UK&I Development and Real Estate team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Take the lead on property and lease accounting for UK&I, ensuring compliance with local UK GAAP, IFRS 16 and ASC 840.
  • Complete monthly P&L and balance sheet reporting for UK&I lease accounting within the relevant reporting deadlines.
  • Work closely with the Development and Real Estate team to update and maintain the accounting components within Lucernex (lease system) for UK&I lease changes.
  • Ensure that the leasing Sox controls are operated effectively. Work with internal audit and external audit in the testing of these areas.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in further aspects of financial accounting and management reporting as part of the monthly and quarterly reporting cycle.
  • Support the UK&I statutory reporting obligations including stat accounts production and audit.
  • Supply relevant accounting information to the Group team for the production of Odeon Cinemas Group IFRS consolidated accounts.
  • Ensure the delivery of production of high quality management and financial information in a timely manner
  • Working closely with other key members of the Finance team, wider UK&I Finance and AMC/Group Finance functions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
ACA /ACCA qualified. Experience of working with IFRS 16 lease accounting. Experience of working within a busy finance function, preferably within a multi-site, retail, leisure or FMCG environment. Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of building relationships outside of the Finance function and dealing with external auditors. Excellent organizational and analytical skills with an ability to then confidently work with external partners and Finance and non-Finance people within Odeon. Self-motivated, keen to achieve targets, focuses on results and have proven record of successful delivery of objectives. Experience in Oracle financial systems and Microsoft packages preferred Ability to both self-manage and work without supervision and to also be able to work within a team to maximize team and individual performance. Able to maintain stable performance under pressure. Able to manage multiple tasks within a fast moving environment with the ability to manage expectations and hit deadlines. Willingness to challenge existing practices by identifying alternative, appropriate and/or innovative solutions. Flexible and hard working with a can do attitude. Able to demonstrate ownership and personal responsibility.
