Job Description

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Accountant / Business Partner will involve:

Providing support to the Finance Manager for the TSG/FPG group and ad hoc support to Head of Finance on central reporting tasks.

Primary interface with project stakeholders to provide value adding financial support and challenge.

Line management and development of an Assistant Project Accountant for TSG/FPG.

Using our new IT tools (BPC and SAP) be bold and explore new ways of working and analysis of data to enhance future performance.

Creation and update of reports within our Finance tool (SAP BPC) and our ERP (SAP).

Providing support to Project Managers and Project Controllers ensuring that project finances are maintained in line with the Finance Control Framework (FCF).

Provide Project teams with sound and robust financial guidance. Working and partnering as a member of the project team, while providing rigorous challenge and compliance with financial policies and controls.

Bringing business acumen to bear in all discussions on delivery and winning of new business.

Supporting project reviews through the provision of accurate and timely contract status reports, summary status reports and other financial inputs to review packs.

Supporting the bid and approval process, producing NPV and IEP documents to support RBA process.

Responsibility for balance sheet, P&L and cash flow of programme area.

Proactively seeking continuous improvement and challenging process, where required.

Supporting risk reviews, taking a considered approach to risk vs reward.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential Skills:

Project Accounting experience

Commercial acumen with numerical / analytical skills

Self-motivated to learn and engage with senior leadership team

Confident with ability to influence others

Excel skills (advanced level preferred)

Detailed knowledge of Project Lifecycle Management (LCM) process

Understanding of MoD Accounting / Contracting requirements

CIMA/ACCA/ICEAW (Fully Qualified - will consider part qualified with experience and continuation of studies)

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of SAP BPC environment, in addition to SAP experience

Risk management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You will need to have a proactive approach and the ability to use your own initiative, working independently & as part of a team. The ability to influence others and generate successful outcomes using excellent communication skills and confident in dealing with senior stakeholders. The role will include elements of system and process design, sharing best practice and developing existing ways of working, so attention to detail is very important.
