Job Description
Senior Accountant responsibilities:
Sign off VAT returns
Sign off CIS submissions to HMRC
Sign off sole trader accounts and partnership for a client meeting
Prepare limited company accounts
Deal with clients regarding accounting and ad hoc queries
Prepare VAT returns for certain clients and Management Information for selected clients
Prepare self-assessment tax returns
Prepare capital allowances computations and corporation tax returns
File accounts and tax returns to HMRC
Bookkeeping for certain complex VAT clients
Attend client offices where necessary to complete bookkeeping and accounting work
Review work of Junior and/or Apprentice and Semi Seniors
Provide on-going training and technical experience/support for other staff
Provide support to the Manager/Partner on technical matters
Keep up to date with tax and accounting changes and legislation
Prepare Capital Gains Tax calculations and computations for tax returns
Hold and attend client meetings
Provide advice to clients on tax and accounting matters
Prepare and review Company Secretarial work and Annual Returns - when required
Prepare payroll and Auto Enrolment Pensions - where required
Attend accounting Seminars and Webinars for technical updates
Manage office in Manager/Partner’s absence

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A minimum of 3 years’ recent Accounts experience (preferably in a busy, fast-paced, but small practice Accounting environment) Actively studying towards ACCA/ACA or newly qualified Good IT skills Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal Highly organised Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines Within a 40 minute Commutable distance to Hemel Hempstead
