Job Description

We deliver practical training and apprenticeships to up skill and progress the careers of both new and existing employees. We equip people who are entering, re-entering or already working in the logistics sector with the competence and skills to become more proficient and productive in their jobs.

We are currently recruiting for the role of Management Accountant who will support, control and manage the businesses finances within the Finance Team. You will be required to prepare management accounts and end of year accounts. You will also be responsible for Tax reporting and compliance and Auditing and oversight.

Duties

  • Supervise the administration of the sales and purchase ledgers
  • Prepare the monthly management accounts for all businesses.
  • Lead the preparation of the year end accounts
  • Liaise with the external Accountant in relation to year end, company taxation and other areas.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT returns
  • Coach, develop and direct the finance team has appropriate
  • Approach change positively and adapt to change; a change in focus, systems, business need etc.
  • Undertake continuous learning and development.
  • Priorities tasks well for self and the wider team.
  • Analyze financial information to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Engage key service in the organization to ensure appropriate processes and policies are in place.

Audit

  • Audits accounts and work completed by colleagues to provide performance support and embed a culture of continuous improvement
  • Validate expense claims
  • Lead stock takes and analyses discrepancies
  • Lead audits of fixed assets
  • Complete substantive and analytics reviews
  • Provide Governance and Control process monitoring

Education and Knowledge

  • Sage Line 50

  • GCSE A -C or equivalent in Math's and English and ICT qualification Level 3
  • ATT
  • CIMA or working towards
  • ACCA or working towards
  • Experience producing management accounts for an SME (or assisting with) –essential
  • Competent on Excel and strong understanding on double entry accounting

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Equipped with strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills; Listens for understanding and expresses information clearly and concisely. Analytical; you can think strategically, and you can handle complexity. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written); ability to maintain utmost respectful professional internal and external relationships, even under pressure. Good organizational and planning skills; able to co-ordinate multiple projects and competing demands. Takes ownership of tasks, maintaining focus when tight deadlines are required. Very high attention to detail and high standard of accuracy. Demonstrates creative thinking when solving problems, establishes the issue and options available and has confidence in decision making. Demonstrates a positive attitude, focuses on a ‘can do’ way of thinking, and is willing to accept new challenge.
