Financial Controller
Full-time, Contract - Temporarily remote
Job Description

The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with UK generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or financial reporting standards (FRS 102). The position is also responsible for cash management and risk management.

Key Deliverables

Management

· Responsibility and review of monthly management accounts, inclusive of divisions, group and consolidated accounts

· Manage cash flow and reporting

· Responsibility for funding submissions.

· Manage ongoing financial MI requirements to create appropriate reporting for Directors and staff.

· Complete Commercial analysis for management as required

· Build and maintain funder relationships

· Submit tax returns to HMRC

· Control VAT submissions

· Budgeting and forecasting

· Audit responsibility

· Covenant compliance and reporting

· Effective management of other Finance staff

· Development of the Finance function, systems, processes and team.

· Manage bank accounts

Transactions

· Ensure that daily and periodic bank reconciliations are completed within agreed SLA’s.

· Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions in both Sage and Guardian.

· Maintain the chart of accounts in both Sage and Guardian.

· Review funding submissions.

· Have a sound working knowledge of Guardian Financial Transactions.

· Provide guidance and support on financial aspects of Guardian Transaction Reporting.

Reporting

· Coordinate the preparation of the statutory annual accounts

· Issue timely and complete monthly accounts

· Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.

· Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

· Provide for a system of management cost reports.

· Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.

· Ensure accurate and timely FCA reporting.

· Production of KPI’s in line with agreed SLA’s.

· Covenant compliance with funders

Compliance

· Compliance with company law.

· Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

· Comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings.

· Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

· Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.

· Undertake all relevant compliance and training exercises.

Additional Duties

· Oversee financial aspects of the business operation.

· Provide support and guidance to Directors and staff on financial issues.

Working Relationships

· Reports directly to Finance Director and Managing Director.

· Liaise with other team members to ensure an integrated approach to the business is maintained.

· Understands the team business plan and personal contribution to it.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Financial Controller should have a processional accountancy ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification and sufficient and appropriate experience. · Accuracy · Ability to deliver quality outputs with agreed timescales. · Intermediate excel skills · Drive for continuous improvement · Knowledge of the Asset Financing environment. · Computer Literate. · Numerate with analytical ability. · Effective communicator. · Customer Service focused. · Good with people at all levels. · Desire to be a winner. · Team Player. · Practical problem solving competence. · Ability to work under pressures whilst maintaining a positive mental attitude.
