While working with a big name looks great on the CV, small accountancy practices will often offer a faster route to gaining the hands-on experience that will drive your career forward.
In this audit trainee position, you’ll be joining a firm which specializes in working with businesses turning over anywhere from £5-50 million a year. You won’t be doing the paperwork for sole traders and contractors, but getting hands-on working with entrepreneurial businesses. And with opportunities to work on a range of in-depth projects and assignments too, you will get exposure to a much broader experience than in a larger firm. There’s a real shortage of people coming in to auditing right now, so the experience you get will be invaluable throughout your career.
The business is looking to expand its client base, so as you complete your training (this firm will provide financial support towards your qualifications) and the firm grows, you’ll be able to progress and develop in the post also. And with only 12 in the team at the moment, there’s flexibility for the job to fit to your strengths and interests. They can also be accommodating to flexible working hours, and already do two days a week from home.
