Job Description

The Procurement Specialist role involves development and on-boarding of suppliers, driving cost savings and managing the introduction of new products.

Client Details

Our client is a leading modular build manufacturer based in Hull.

Description

  • Year on year cost reduction.
  • Drive and delivery of best 'Total Cost of Acquisition, "Right First Time Quality" and "On Time In Full" measures.
  • Development and implementation of top-level commodity strategies.
  • Working closely with current and new supply chains to drive and develop key strategic projects.
  • Sourcing and approval of new suppliers.
  • Development and implementation of new products working closely with Supplier Quality Assurance team and assisting in the completion of the Initial Sample Inspection Report process.
  • Work with Supply partners to achieve Lean Manufacturing objectives.
  • Working with current and new suppliers to develop commercial and service level agreements.
  • Control and development of supplier relations.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to bring about improvements in the supply chain.
  • Hold and facilitate regular supply review meetings both with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier and commodity risk assessments, developing robust contingency plans.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
CIPS qualified or working towards CIPS. Experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment. Minimum 5 years' experience within a Procurement role. Experience with lean manufacturing techniques. Control and development of a supplier portfolio of greater than £10 million. Consistently achieved year on year cost savings (5% of total supplier turnover). Driven and implemented strategic projects resulting in savings of > £200k per annum. Ability to undertake effective supplier audits and reviews. Understanding of key financial accounting information. Organizational awareness and the ability to influence senior executives. Excellent stakeholder management. Demonstrable influencing and negotiating skills. Commercial awareness. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Commitment to working as part of a team. Good level of IT skills and experience of MRP systems and processes.
