Job Description

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper/ Accountant at our office in Heaton Chapel, Stockport. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, commercial acumen, strong numeracy and IT skills and a strong hand at administration. This can be a single or dual opportunity either just working in accounts or working in accounts and administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Preparation of draft management accounts.
  • VAT - reconciliation and submission of quarterly returns.
  • Sales Ledger - reconciliations to status sheets.
  • Tax Return.
  • Weekly Profit and Loss.
  • Raising and chasing up invoices.
  • Raising payments to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Responsible of the purchases, receipts orders and returns.
  • Liaise with warehouse manager regarding stock and consumable report..
  • Responsible for keeping track of project costs.
  • Checking and authorizing staff payments.
  • Handling staff expenses.
  • Intercompany journals and transactions.
  • Data entry and input of invoices.
  • Manage all procurements.
  • Payroll.

If candidate also has administration experience it would be very beneficial and would be a full time position

  • Obtaining all starter paperwork for new joiners from the recruiting managers to create employee files.
  • Assist with Recruitment advertising, sourcing and maintaining PSL.
  • Reporting on recruitment activity and vacancies.
  • New starters offer letters and contracts.
  • Entering starters, changes and leavers on the HR system.
  • Support with benefits administration (pension auto enrolment, pension GPPP, medical insurance administrations, employee communications).
  • Review and improve current filing and systems.
  • Meeting room management.
  • Produce range of documents (including but not limited to contracts of employment, contract of renewals, agreements) in line with company policy and, payroll and training procedures.
  • Vet all new starters to the company adhering to the criteria as set in the relevant vetting procedure for the role.
  • Obtaining all relevant vetting details (HR02 / disclosure applications / ID Verification) from the recruiting manager where necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous Experience of Accounting. General administration and payroll experience. Excellent skills using Microsoft software, MS word and Excel. Highly organized. Very good computer and software knowledge (google drive Microsoft package generally computer savvy please). Confident and able to work under pressure. Up to date knowledge of current legislation. Knowledge of using payroll systems. Able to communicate with all senior management and director levels.
