Job Description
We’re looking for a financial accountant to join our central financial control team and help us to drive continuous improvement in accounting and financial control across our Co-op. A key focus will be to provide financial accounting support and appropriate financial control for the Corporate Centre.
As a financial accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring consistent accounting practices and high standards across all Coop businesses, producing timely and accurate information and proactively supporting the businesses. What you’ll do
act as the main contact for financial accounting support for our corporate Centre within the financial control team
work with the wider financial accounting team to continually drive process improvements and standards in financial control across the Group
produce a variety of high-quality balance sheet control account reconciliations for the corporate centre ensuring robust control of the corporate balance sheet is maintained
produce statutory accounts for various Group subsidiaries including co-ordination of tax pack info
support the production of the Group’s annual accounts at interim and year-end
produce monthly finance pack for our in-house self-insurance team
provide technical accounting guidance for ad-hoc queries raised by our businesses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• An accountancy qualification i.e. Aca, cima, acca or equivalent. • Experience of producing or auditing statutory accounts under ifrs. • Strong excel skills with the ability to manage large quantities of data. • Great communication skills, with a talent for building positive relationships with partners across the business. • Balance sheet reconciliation experience. • Good time management skills, able to manage their own workload in a fast-paced environment. • Experience supporting external audit activity would be desirable, but not essential. • Experience working with sap would be advantageous, but not essential.
