Job Description

NHS England is recruiting to the post of Finance Assistant for the Direct Commissioning Finance Team, to work within the Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership. NHS England leads the National Health Service (NHS) in England. We set the priorities and direction of the NHS and encourage and inform the national debate to improve health and care.

NHS England shares out more than £100 billion in funds and holds organizations to account for spending this money effectively for patients and efficiently for the tax payer. A lot of the work we do involves the commissioning of health care services in England.

We have devised a strategic vision for the NHS, along with our partners in health, called the Five Year Forward View and now with our partners, we are delivering that vision. This vision shows that we are getting serious about prevention, identifying and delivering improvements in health care, redesigning the NHS so it continues to meet the needs of patients, ensuring the NHS is financially sustainable and engaging the public in this whole process.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
We are looking for a highly motivated, committed and reliable individual with experience of working within an NHS Finance department to assist NHS England deliver the vision by providing a full management accounting service to Greater Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and various Primary Care Contractor groups for the benefit of the Greater Manchester population. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is technically competent and a great communicator, as the post holder will be expected to work in partnership with a broad range of stakeholders including clinicians and CCG colleagues. You will have a BA (Hons) Degree, AAT or equivalent Finance qualification or have experience of working as a management accountant in a Finance department. A good knowledge of NHS Finance, in particular primary care finance would be an advantage.
