Job Description

Element has an opportunity for a Competency Auditor to undertake site competency audits as required. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn and develop. As an Asbestos Auditor, you will be responsible for ensuring that Element technical site-based staff are working in accordance to current CAR 2012 (Control of Asbestos Regulations), and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance and Element ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ (SOPs).

You will be well organized in your daily work and you will have the ability to work under your own initiative as well as working unsupervised as part of a team. Attention to detail and accuracy are just as important as strong communication and prioritizing skills and the ability to multitask.
Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking site competency audits.
  • Reviewing content of peer competency audits.
  • Updating staff training records where applicable to reflect audits and training undertaken.
  • Updating Skills Matrix, Audit tracker and TEAMS authorizations following submission/completion of satisfactory audits.
  • Assisting with the induction of new starters as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of the site equipment registers.
  • Ensuring that all staff are assessed in relation to UKAS requirements, HSE Guidance and Element Standard Operating Procedures.
  • You will be responsible for managing your own time but will be expected to carry out all audits within the following disciplines: Bulk analysis, 4 Stage Clearance, Management Survey’s, Refurbishment Survey’s & Demolition Survey’s.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate must hold BOHS P402-P404 or equivalent and would preferably hold BOHS P401. The candidate would preferably be CoC Asbestos and preferably hold a recognized auditing qualification. Significant experience operating with a UKAS accredited environment Experience of working with a Quality management system to ISO 17025, ISO 17020 and 19011 standards. Sound knowledge of the asbestos QMS procedures - the ability to ensure that these are clearly relayed, understood and adhered to. Knowledge of relevant HSE Guidance (e.g. HSG 248, HSG 264) and UKAS documents (Lab30, RG8, etc.). Ability to work within, and preferably have experience of, the nuclear sector. Ability and willingness to work independently as dictated by variable site requirements. A confident and assertive individual with the ability to provide effective leadership, motivate staff and foster a collaborative team spirit in a dynamic testing and consulting environment. Positive and enthusiastic personality with strong planning and organizational skills. The candidate must be willing to travel and work away from home for extended periods.
