Job Description

Working with the UK Finance Directors and the Group Finance Service Center Director, the FSC Leader will be responsible for the delivery of a fully functioning service center serving the BW Packaging Group entities in the UK. Initially the UK FSC Leader will manage the transition of payables, receivables, credit management and general accounting functions to a centralized service center, ensuring controls and effective services are delivered.

On setup up the FSC Lead will manage the day-to-day operations of the UK Finance Service Center, ensuring timely and accurate processing, management of KPIs, ensuring the application of high-quality standard processes. The role also participates in the recommendation and administration of operational policies, procedures and process improvement in support of the Service Center.

This role needs expert knowledge and application of subject matter and may handle complex issues. This role is responsible for providing insightful leadership by encouraging others to discover, develop and apply their talents enabling them to reach their full potential. Actively engages in our Lean journey by building and acting on continuous improvement and development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accounts payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Management and General Accounting for all Packaging group entities based in the UK.
  • Define and maintain the best practice finance processes within the UK accounting team, both in the FSC and in partnership with the operational business.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Responsible for origination and maintenance of vendors and customers, inclusive of quality control and monitoring.
  • Ensure the daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring of the company bank account balances. Reconciling all transactions covering all accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card receipts and miscellaneous charges
  • Closing the books at month-end including intra and intercompany.
  • Provide a link between the FSC and Divisional Finance teams for financial accounting matters.
  • Project Management of FSC related projects
  • Use reporting functionality to monitor business operations and KPIs for the FSC for quality, efficiency and timeliness.
  • Assist with both internal and external auditors
  • Ensuring that all reporting distributed (both internally and externally) to the FSC is timely, meaningful and accurate
  • Co-ordinate the year-end audit process for the FSC as well as ensuring the implementation of all recommendations as appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor's degree with Accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) required. Demonstrate a solid background with relevant experience to bring to the role, to have worked in a similar type of role. Excellent knowledge of common accounting, ERPs and financial reporting software tools. Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles, business process and business intelligence, and effective business processes across all functions. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong problem solving skills and an empathetic diplomatic demeanor. Excellent team-building skills with Improvement mindset and the ability to apply KPIs to improve process. Ability to liaise with management and FSC team. To have excellent Project Leadership, is result orientation, to be assertive and is able to influence. Ensures Accountability.
