Job Description

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our Highways team to work in Warrington. The role will involve travel across the North of England.

Role Purpose

  • To lead the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System and Quality Management Plan for the RDP North projects in line with internal and external standards and requirements.
  • To lead and support the RDP North project and design teams to embed quality management into all processes and actions.
  • To lead the promotion and management of Core Process ‘Measure Performance’ and associated procedures, across the north framework.
  • To lead the project teams in the achievement of Customer and internal Performance targets.
  • The effective management of non-conformities and Quality Management Points.
    Maintain compliance with legislation, certification and the ASC contract.

What you'll be doing

As a Quality Manager, your main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Ensure that the Quality Plan is developed, approved and followed and that all relevant certification and quality standards are maintained. Ensure that all performance measures are reported correctly and on time and that the required performance levels are achieved.
  • Developing and maintaining the Quality Plan and Quality Policy.
  • Implementation of and adherence to business management system and compliance with Contract and Parent company requirements
  • Provide expertise and support on quality assurance and compliance and strive to developing and improvement the quality management system.
  • A programme of internal, external and customer audits.
  • Ensure that non-conformities are being effectively managed, and that ‘Quality Management Points’ are minimized.
  • Monitoring performance against and ensuring compliance with customer performance requirements and targets.
  • Monitoring performance against and ensuring compliance with Internal and Parent Company performance requirements and targets.
  • Monitoring performance against other Highways England areas and other comparable industries.
  • Producing monthly, quarterly and annual Performance & Quality reports to the agreed format and timescale.
  • Managing the Quality & Performance team effectively
  • Any other relevant tasks as may be required to fulfil role.

The following qualities and experience are desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 27001 Information Security
  • Environmental Auditor
  • Appreciation of Lean (HELMA)
    National Highway Sector Schemes

Specific competencies / particular working patterns / need for travel:

  • Role will require travel within the North of England, and may require travel to other offices nationally
  • Driving license

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Degree Qualified or equivalent. Lead Auditor qualification. QMS qualification and/or equivalent experience. CSCS Accreditation. Comprehensive experience of report writing. Strong capability of using IT systems. Demonstrable analytical ability. Proficient knowledge of business/industry and NHSS. Strong commercial awareness. Proficient experience in managing and measuring performance and auditing. Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems. Knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management. Experience of managing an audit programme. Awareness of CDM, Safety and Environment functions, Quality Assurance and Control, Contract Administration, Commercial, Financial and Personnel management issues and support functions.
