Job Description
Main activities of the role
The receipt, recording and appropriate distribution of correspondence and applications including handling and recording of the receipt of fees paid in respect of firearms, shotgun and explosive applications
Assist members of the public in relation to the completion of their applications for firearms and shotgun certificates and permits
Respond to telephone enquiries from members of the public, police officers and other agencies, providing advice on firearms legislation
Carry out vetting checks and interrogate force systems for all applicants applying for firearm, shotgun and explosive certificates. To gather, assimilate and record accurately information obtained from the various systems
Ensure accurate data input onto the National Firearms Licensing Management System (NFLMS)
Ensure the timely renewal of applications for shotgun and explosives certificates
Provide clerical and administrative support to the Firearms Licencing Unit
File, maintain and weed files
Prepare and dispatch certificates, permits, other authorities and letters
Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by line management.
