Job Description

Responsible for accurate payroll administration and answering payroll queries as part of Liberty Global Shared Service Centre for companies including Virgin Media and the accurate and timely processing of all payroll credit transfers for employees in accordance with both statutory and company rules and in a way that positively impacts customer effectiveness, efficiency, and confidence.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Resolve complex pay queries enquiries, issues and complaints, escalating as appropriate.
  • Complete accurate payroll transactional processing.
  • Support the management of the accurate and punctual processing of all payroll credit transfer and emergency CHAPS payments
  • Ensure that statutory deductions are correctly made and accounted for and that all statutory returns, including those for taxable benefits, relating to the employees, are produced and dispatched in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that non-statutory deductions made on behalf of the employees are accounted for and returns, including payment, are made to the appropriate organizations.
  • Ensure that advice and service given to managers, employees and external organizations are of a high quality and delivered in a customer focused way
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll related legislation and statuary obligations
  • Keep abreast of company and statutory changes, and working with Information Technology & the ES Systems & Portfolio Development team, ensure necessary system changes are implemented at the required time
  • Support the delivery of projects to improve payroll system, processes and procedures enabling the delivery of high standards within payroll services and customer service.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Pay Services Manager - Contribute to the development and implementation of the Pay Services strategy to maximize cost effectiveness, align with business needs, comply with legal requirements and reflect current best practice bench marks
  • People Team - works closely with the operational people and case team to ensure seamless provision of appropriate pay services. Work with SMEs to ensure the successful delivery of pay & reward initiatives
  • Line Managers – Provide advice, support and resolution to line managers on complex pay queries, where appropriate.
  • Employees – Provide advice, support and resolution to employees on complex pay queries
  • 3rd Party Suppliers – work with suppliers to ensure SLAs are met to deliver seamless end to end processes and an excellent customer experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll processes and procedures, particularly those relating to the BACS process and company pension schemes. Detailed and practical knowledge of statutory legislation pertinent to Income Tax (PAYE), National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP and Salary sacrifice, Benefits in Kind and Attachment of Earning Orders. A good understanding of external Payroll/Shared Services developments A good understanding of managing payroll in a diverse organization Experience of providing detailed and timely pay and management information advice. Proven experience of managing complex, high volume pay processes in an efficient and effective manner Knowledge of the company pension schemes Understanding of interfaces between payroll and finance and pensions In depth knowledge of payroll processing including month end and year end activities Good working knowledge of process methodologies Able to fully utilize standard Microsoft Office products and the application of Oracle and workflow/case management, with MS Excel to intermediate level. A high degree of inter-personal skills is essential, in an environment where conflicting priorities can result in delays and failures, to ensure that no deadlines are ever missed.
