Job Description

We have temporary placement opportunities available for Medical Secretaries at the Werneth Primary Care Centre. They will be providing the following support to the pediatric team

  • The post holder will provide medical transcription and administrative support on attachment to clinical teams; guided by standard operating procedures
  • The post holder will provide medical transcription and administrative support on attachment to clinical teams; guided by standard operating procedures
  • Provide non-clinical advice and information to patients/clients/relatives; exercising judgment when dealing with enquiries, analyzing and resolving appointment/admission schedule issues
  • Carry out administrative instructions that are dictated in the letters transcribed to include booking appointments and admissions via the Booking and Scheduling Department
  • Bring to the attention of the Medical Personal Assistants any investigations, results that are pending and require action or inclusion in the NPSA 16 Investigations Tracking Systems, following transcription of clinical correspondence

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
City and Guilds Certificate in Medical Terminology, or equivalent. Experience of providing secretarial services in a hospital environment. Experience of using Patient Administration System (PAS). Experience of using digital dictation systems.
