Job Description

As a Shift Manager you will be managing and mentoring the production team to ensure the productivity targets and quality standards are achieved.

You will be working on a continental shift (12 hours shifts days and nights).

Key tasks:

  • Ensuring that Health & Safety requirements are adhered to by Production Team at all times
  • Ensuring that the Production Team achieves productivity targets and products are meeting high standards of quality compliance
  • Achieving the production plan with effective management and shift planning
  • Covering the Lead Shift Manager's duties when absent
  • Supporting the Lead Shift Manager in achieving budgeted targets for manufacturing
  • Liaising with the Engineering Department re maintenance and repairs to equipment
  • To promote teamwork & training for factory personnel to improve their skills
  • Assisting in the development of SOP's and issue current SOP's with jobs
  • Help in carrying out Root Cause investigations & implementing Corrective & Preventive Actions
  • Effectively plan shift to ensure all raw materials and consumables are staged to achieve the production plan.
  • Effectively manage team to perform to their best abilities through motivation and performance management
  • Investigating Non-Conformance Reports and determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
  • Act as key contact with customer auditors and responsible for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Handling formal audits.
  • Planning internal ISO/BRC audits
  • Training of staff on ISO/BRC issues
  • New starter quality and safety inductions
  • Validation of product conformance
  • Report all Unsafe Acts/Unsafe Conditions, Near Misses, Self-Reported Injuries and RIDDOR events
  • Conduct thorough investigations into all health and safety incidents.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
An ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of legislation applying to H & S, BRC/ISO and Quality rules within manufacturing plant. Application of RCCA and Lean/Six Sigma Principles and knowledge of compliance requirements applicable to the business is desirable. Previous experience of working with film extrusion, printing or other FMCG industry would be an additional advantage.
