Several months ago, at the beginning of lockdown, we were contacted by this specialist engineering consultancy because their business had expanded quickly, to the point that their existing accountancy function simply couldn’t keep up. We found them an experienced Finance Manager and he’s transformed the department. With the implementation of modern accounting software (Xero), and a sensible set of systems now in place, the business can continue to grow without the numbers going off track. However, with numerous projects in the pipeline, all of which are going to require strong financial input, he needs assistance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant (or perhaps an Accounts Assistant looking to step up), perhaps part/fully AAT qualified but with at least 24 months of experience gained within a busy commercial finance team. It’s a varied role where the successful candidate will likely take a lead responsibility for sales and supplier ledgers, CIS arrangements, credit control and the preparation of VAT reports. Experience is important, but so is aptitude and we’re looking for somebody that can use initiative to think beyond the basic job brief, act as a point of contact for customers and suppliers, and with strong IT aptitude.
